Adopted in 1990, the American with Disabilities Act’s goal is to ensure equal access to civic life by people with disabilities. Currently, the Town is conducting a self-survey and transition plan to identify barriers to equal access.
Residents provided input on public access for the disabled during a December 4 public meeting on the Town of Farragut’s Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) self-survey and transition plan presentation. Kimley-Horn, the engineering firm managing both projects, was present and received their input.
Additional public input, particularly from individuals with disabilities or organizations representing persons with disabilities, is sought. Comments and concerns regarding access for the disabled in Town programs, services, activities, as well as in public buildings, parks, and pedestrian facilities within the public rights of way should be emailed to the ADA Coordinator at ADACoordinator@townoffarragut.orgor mailed to Farragut Town Hall. Citizen’s may place a citizen’s request by calling Town Hall at 966-7057.
Comments must be submitted by the January 19, 2018 deadline to be addressed during the self-survey process.
Following completion of the self-survey, a second public meeting will be held for public review and comment on the draft transition plan.
